Vrbo Beach Trip 2022

This beach trip was special for many reasons! One being that it was our first trip as a family of FIVE! We stayed in this amazing Vrbo house in Cape San Blas, Florida. This was our second time visiting Cap San Blas. The first trip was in the winter. It was such a peaceful trip but definitely different than a summer beach vacation. You can read all about that first trip here.

We love staying in Vrbo houses for our family vacations. This amazing beach front home did not disappoint. It was right on the white sandy beaches and steps from the Gulf of Mexico. That is a huge plus for doing beach vacations with kids. For this trip, our close family friends, who also have 3 kiddos of their own, joined us. Taking 6 kids to the beach requires A LOT of stuff! Enough sand toys for everyone, lots of dry towels, floats, snacks, water bottles, sunscreen, hats… just to start the list. So being able to store all of this and more on our Vrbo’s covered porch and not have to haul it but a few yards was a MAJOR time and sanity saver! Speaking of the covered porch, this home had a great outdoor shower for all of us to wash off before heading back inside. The kids especially loved this feature.

Something else we’ve learned over the years of traveling with kids is to skip eating out whenever possible. Its usually not fun or enjoyable for anyone when you have to wait forever to get a table and then ask worn out kids to sit and behave. Staying in a spacious Vrbo home is a perfect solution to this with their stocked kitchens! It was so fun to grill fresh fish and prepare meals with our friends in this home! The 180 views of the gulf provided quite the backdrop while we were in the kitchen sipping wine and cooking. The kids were down at the beach with a parent and we could walk out on the balcony to tell them to come up and eat. This home had a large dining table so that everyone could sit together and enjoy fuss-free meals!

The house had a total of 4 bedrooms, 3 of them had more than one bed so we had more than enough space for everyone! The bedroom Skot and I stayed in was on the top floor. It had an amazing private balcony that was so peaceful. You could see so far down the coast from up there. The home’s other 2 balconies featured wrap around porches with lots of chairs and tables. Us adults ate most of our meals out there. The sunsets in Cap San Blas are breathtaking and these balconies were perfect for soaking them in.

Another great thing about this beach town is that they allow beach bonfires. We took advantage of this one night and let the kids make s’mores. They loved it and it will for sure be a memory I cherish. We made many, many more memories on this vacation. That’s what traveling and staying in Vrbo houses is all about, the memories. Having a home away from home to enjoy and spend time together in makes vacations so much easier. Check out some of the photos of the memories we made below.
