Art Wall Nook

One of the things I love about our custom floor plan, is all the little nooks upstairs. Cedar’s room has a great one that you saw here that we turned into a homework area for him.
This one below is another cute area off of the playroom that I knew I eventually wanted to do something special in.

I had already started to add in the boys artwork to the space but without much of a plan or direction. I quickly realized I wanted bigger, matching frames for a uniform art wall. I found a great company, Art To Frames, that lets you customize your frames to a tee! All of their frames are hand crafted in the USA too.

I picked out a simple white wooden frame with the style name of “Modern White.” I got an oversized frame so that I could change out the art size easily over the years. I also love how much white space is around the art too! The size I chose was 12x16 with white mats. The backing that I used to tape the boys’ art to was purchased from amazon here.

Once I had the gallery wall going, we started on the window bench. I saw the idea of a shiplap front from another blogger and loved it! Skot did a great job building the little bench. Then I painted it with Rust-Olleum’s White Linen Chalk paint.

I made a super easy bench cushion out of plywood, spray adhesive, foam, outdoor fabric, and a staple gun! I have the whole tutorial saved to my Instagram highlights under “Bench Cushion.” If you do make your own, my tips would be to pull the fabric tightly as you’re stapling it down and use lots of staples. I also sewed my own pillows for this space too using fabric I found at Joann’s.

I love how this nook turned out! It’s functional and beautiful. I find myself sitting here a lot while the boys are playing in the playroom.

Thank you so much Art To Frames for providing the wonderfully made wooden frames for the nook! Y’all go check them out for your next framing project, you won’t be disappointed!

As always, thanks for read and following along friends!
