Fall Porch Decor (With Video!)
Hey Y’all! I’m feeling pretty fancy over here with this video WITH a background SONG! It was fun to make and gave me confidence to make more videos for you in the future! There’s something about watching a video that really puts you in the space more so than a picture don’t you think?
I started dreaming up this area by knowing I wanted to use what I already had as far as containers go. These galvanized planters are great year round! My crock filled with rocks to help with irrigation and potting soil weighs approximately 537 lbs so it wasn’t moving. So with these things in place I started thinking of easy ways to transform the front porch into a harvest party.
As soon as I caught wind that Trader Joes had their pumpkins in, I went running. I took our 5 year old with me one night way past his bedtime to help pick some out! He just wanted a plain carving pumpkin and a few little ones for him and his brother <heart melt> But Mama wanted the apricot, green, and light orange ones! Originally I thought I only wanted white pumpkins but they were limited and once I saw these pretty colors I change my mind!
Next up, I needed wreaths. I found some what ones at Home Goods that I liked in store, but when I got home and hung them, they looked too yellow. So back they went! I love that Home Goods and TJ Maxx now how the e-mail your receipt option… game changer! No more scanning your license because you lost the receipt, hoping you haven’t met the limit on returns for the year.
I searched and searched for wreaths that I loved but couldn’t find any so I decided to make my own. I’m a big fan of greenery in general but especially lambs ear. These are from Hobby Lobby in the non-seasonal wreath section. Once I had these in hand I went down the pick aisle at Hobby Lobby. It’s so much easier picking out your picks when you actually have the wreath they are doing on in hand. I loved the contrast and texture the glittery acorns added and the slightly purple eucalyptus added in more fall color. To top it off I added this cute little white pumpkin for a pop in the center!
DIY Wreath Hack
I tried to put these picks on how I always have when making my own wreaths… with a hot glue gun. But I found it was super hard with the Lamb’s Ear wreath. So I got to thinking and order these zip ties and they worked like a charm! Plus they will be super easy to snip off without damaging the wreath! WIN WIN
While at Hobby Lobby I found these faux cabbages and was impressed by how real they looked! I was thinking about getting real ones but lets be honest… I kill most things. Faux florals are great in my book!
Baby Smith was pleased with our Fall porch this year! Maybe next year he can stay up past his bedtime and help scour pumpkins with us!
