One Room Challenge: Week 1
I’ve been dreaming up this office make over for quite some time! When we were building, we chose to leave the built ins white. I knew later on I would have a clear vision of what I wanted the space to be.
Here is the before photo. There’s nothing “wrong” at all about this room. But it is missing personality.
Better Homes & Gardens is hosting the One Room Challenge and I knew this space would be perfect for me to participate with as a guest!
So once I had a reason to get motivated, I felt like finding a fun office chair was a good first step! When I saw this one I knew it was purrrrrfect!
Then I was on to a rug! I knew I wanted to keep it geometric to help offset the “wild” chair. I wanted it to ground the room. I partnered with MDH Posh Interiors and Design to pick out the perfect rug! The texture is beautiful and I knew the color would go with anything!
Now it was time to pick a paint color for the built ins!
I went back and forth with what color I wanted for awhile. Ultimately, I decided on a blue that wasn’t too far on the navy side!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that my original choice ended up looking purple in the room. See video….
I went with my gut and took it back to the Sherwin Williams store and got them to add more black to it to make it more blue and less Barney. I am so glad I did!
So here we are, week one, finishing up the paint and dreaming about all the other fun stuff I wanna do to the room! Here’s my mood board currently! I’m so excited to be using the One Room Challenge as a motivator to get this space done! I hope you will check back each week and see the progress! Thanks for reading!
